Marc Marquez on Derbi takes the Manufacturer's World Championship title in the 2010 125 MotoGP Champ

      Marc Marquez

This is the twenty-first world title for the Spanish brand that now has nine Manufacturer's world titles and twelve Rider's world titles.

Valencia (Spain), November 7, 2010 – Thanks to the fourth place in the Valencia GP race, the final round of the 2010 MotoGP, the young Spanish rider Marc Marquez - born in Cervera on February 17, 1993 - took the 125 category World Championship title.

Marquez, riding his Derbi number 93, dominated the season with an outstanding 10 first places and 12 pole positions. His extraordinary consistency in performance and results had already led to the winning of the Manufacturer's world title at the previous GP race in Australia.

With this win on the Valencia track, this Catalan company, established in Martorelles in 1922, and today part of the Piaggio Group, can now count twenty-one world titles with nine Manufacturer's titles and twelve Derbi rider's titles.

Marc Marquez is the latest heir of a "family" of magnificent champions who have raced and won with Derbi: Jorge Martínez 'Aspar' (32 wins with Derbi), Angel Nieto (30 wins), the Japanese rider Youichi Ui (11), Jorge Lorenzo (4) and the French rider Mike di Meglio (4).

Derbi had already celebrated an outstanding historic achievement this year: one hundred wins in MotoGp, once again thanks to Marquez who won the German GP in August.
